Contracting & construction
See the real cost of each project while it's still running.
Sounds familiar?
- 01
You learn a project lost money after it's finished.
- 02
Materials bought for one site end up on another, and nobody records it.
- 03
Subcontractor bills arrive with no clear link to the work done.
- 04
Progress billing is done in Excel and checked by hand.
- 05
Site teams and the office work from different numbers.
Apps that fit
Odoo has no ready construction app. We build the setup from Project, Purchase, Inventory and Accounting, with each project tracked as its own cost center. Bills of quantities, progress certificates and retention usually need customization, and we scope that with you.
A normal day with Odoo
- 01
The site engineer requests materials for the project, and Purchase sends the order to the supplier.
- 02
Materials arrive on site and get recorded against that project.
- 03
Labor hours and subcontractor bills are charged to the same project.
- 04
The project manager compares actual cost with the budget.
- 05
At month-end, you issue a progress invoice based on the work done.
Common questions
Does Odoo have a construction module?
Not as a ready app. Odoo covers contracting through Project, Purchase, Inventory and Accounting. Construction-specific parts, like bills of quantities or retention, are usually added through customization.
Can we track budget against actual cost?
Yes. Each project gets its own cost center, so purchases, labor and subcontractor bills add up against it, and you can set a budget for it in Odoo Accounting.
Can we bill clients by progress?
Yes. You can invoice by milestone or by a percentage of the contract. More detailed progress billing usually needs some customization.
